Chinese Chef in Nevada, MO, offers a straightforward dining experience centered on traditional Chinese fare with a few buffet options. Located on E Austin Blvd, it serves as a practical stop for locals and travelers who want a quick, hot meal without fuss. The atmosphere is casual and unpretentious — a no-frills spot where the focus is on filling plates rather than fine dining details.

The restaurant’s buffet is a main draw, especially during lunch and dinner hours, priced reasonably under $8. This setup works well for those seeking variety and value. The kitchen tends to keep the buffet well-stocked, which means diners can expect fresh and hot food throughout their visit. While the variety covers several classic Chinese dishes featuring beef and pork served with fried rice, some diners find the selection adequate rather than extensive.

Those stopping by should be aware that payment is cash or check only, which can catch some first-timers off guard since there’s no clear signage upfront. This detail makes it a better fit for regulars or locals who are already in the know. Service is generally friendly and attentive, giving the place a welcoming vibe that suits casual meals or a late dinner on the road.

Among the dishes, options like almond chicken and Mongolian beef tend to get favorable mentions, though some items such as fried catfish or general chicken might come off as less memorable or a bit overcooked. The water quality isn’t a highlight, so those who drink it might prefer bringing along a beverage or opting for soda.

Overall, Chinese Chef works best for diners looking for a hot, straightforward meal with familiar flavors on a budget rather than a culinary adventure. It’s a practical choice for lunch or dinner, especially on a busy day or when passing through Nevada and needing a quick, filling bite.

Warning they don't accept debit cards or credit, cash or check only. There's no sign saying this until you go to eat at the restaurant.I've had better but for 6.99 it wasn't bad at all. A good variety, the fried Catfish was old tasting and over done. The general chicken was ok no real defining flavor. The water was horrible and I don't drink soda so that was a little bit of a let down, lemon juice didn't help either. I think for the price and a smaller town it is worth a visit if your hungry, it's about 5-8 minutes from I 49.

Food was good, people were nice. Can't ask for more than that when you're traveling, and eating late.

So I heard from people about this place,...so we decided to give it a try. It was... amazing! Great food, amazing service, and pleasant atmosphere. The price? Not as much as you'd think! So worth it!
